Above Average Production According to PMI
What is ‘PMI’?
Purchasing Managers’ Index (UK Markit/CIPS) is highly accurate data that logs conditions in manufacturing and other industries.
The Purchasing Manager’s Index registered above average indicating positive production rates and an increase in new orders for UK manufacturers.
Growth of export business remained strong, with increased sales to Europe, China and the United States of America. 51% of companies reported they expect a further rise in production though the end of ’17 into 2018.

UK Government Trade Dispute For C-Series Jet Manufacture
The UK government is currently involved in an on-going trade dispute between Bombardier and Boeing over the manufacturing of new C-series jets.
Currently, these jets are manufactured in Northern Ireland in a facility that employs more than 1000 workers. Theresa May has stated she is “Bitterly disappointed” in the current proceedings of extortionate tariffs and heavy government-backed subsidies in the Boeing vs Bombardier battle.
Note: Final ruling on tariffs not due to be completed until 2018.

Contractors Increase To 68% In The UK
The number of engineering contractors has risen over two thirds, now hitting 68%. Self-employment in the engineering industry increased by 17.5% since 2011, showing the need for work flexibility as well as skill shortages for large projects such as Crossrail and Hinkley Point C.
