Mossgas Refinery [PetroSA] In South Africa
To this day, it remains the world’s third largest GTL refinery. The natural gas is piped from offshore gas fields, located 85KM South of Mossel Bay to the main onshore plant.
It continues to support local community, proving over 2000 employment positions, with new recruits from PetroSA’s Centre of Excellence. PetroSA was formed in January 2002 from the merger of three previous entities, including Mossgas (Pty) Limited.

Mossel Bay, South Africa
Mossel Bay is an area situated within the Western Cape province of South Africa. A harbour town with important aspects of tourism and farming/agriculture.
Mossgas was first commissioned in 1992. One of the world’s largest Gas to Liquids refineries is located roughly 13KM West of Mossel Bay’s business district.
